Inspiration really can strike in the most unexpected places.
I was recently asked about my process for seeking out inspiration. Although each creative individual has their own artistic process and sources for inspiration, the common theme I offered was to be open to all potential sources for inspiration.
Take time to slow down, experience each moment and keep your eyes open, because inspiration is all around us. 10 people can look at the exact same thing and all perceive their experience differently. For example, I was pulling out the driveway the other day when I noticed the back of a landscape truck that had a pile of discarded trimmed hedges from overgrown weeds and shrubbery surrounding an office building complex. I was struck by the interesting combination of irregular shapes of debris sticking up through clumps of dirt and sand.
This brief encounter inspired me to play with irregular geos with a new collection to explore the combination of fluid lines and shadows with the playfulness of irregular geometric shapes. This was a perfect example in "keeping your eyes open" because your next inspiration could be just around the corner. Trust your creative intuition and have fun discovering the journey!
